Description:
Collaborative economies put multifunctionality into practice by sharing objects, services, knowledge, spaces, and responsibilities with people or organizations. Collaborative economies embody a systemic-integrative approach: ecologically efficient, socially inclusive and economically smart. The project „SMASH. Smart Sharing Graz“ connects different dimensions of collaborative economies at the level of the new district „My Smart City Graz“: (1) neighborhood assistance, (2) volunteer organizations, (3) commercial enterprises (focusing on cooperatives). For these three dimensions, there are already digital networking tools ‒ SMASH embeds the development of specifc tools socially so that they are used effectively and widely. Neighborhood assistance, voluntary organizations and commercial enterprises are rarely interconnected ‒ SMASH integrates these dimensions to make synergy effects effective. The ecological, economic and social potentials of collaborative economies have been documented many times ‒ SMASH is developing systematic monitoring to get a transformation process going: deep and sustainable. There are many initiatives of collaborative economies in all social and economic areas ‒ SMASH is developing tools and a development model on a practical example so that collaborative economies can be multiplied. Collaborative economies benefit from spatial proximity ‒ SMASH, therefore, works at the level of the district „My Smart City Graz“. A wide range of knowledge about success factors of collaborative economies is available. The project implements this knowledge for the development of a collaborative economy as part of action research. SMASH creates a new experimental space in the real city: an integrative collaboration arena. Based on this, SMASH generates a toolkit and a holistic monitoring system for a multipliable development model of collaborative neighborhood economies that releases socio-ecological transformation potential.
